The One-Item Carry Rule

At crime scenes you can only carry one tool at a time — markers, camera, UV lamp, or collection supplies. This means documenting each piece of evidence requires multiple trips to your tool case: place markers, return for the camera, photograph, return for collection tools. This is intentional design approved by LKA RLP consultants, but it is the main source of pacing complaints in reviews. Plan your workflow: mark all visible evidence first, then photograph everything, then collect.

Tutorials Are Mandatory

All four tutorials must be completed and cannot be skipped. Press reviews note the tutorials feel slow, but they teach every mechanic used in all 14 cases. Budget 2–3 hours for the full tutorial sequence before starting your first investigation.

Common Day-One Mistakes

• Touching evidence before marking and photographing — The most frequent error. Always place a marker first.
• Leaving the crime scene too early — Check every drawer, bin, and electronic device before returning to the lab.
